Bestway offers everything that a retailer needs to run a smoother, more profitable business. Every Bestway retail customer can enter its annual Retail Development Awards programme which includes the Retail Development Seminars and workshops, held in Scotland, North and South of England. These seminars offer customers the opportunity to listen and learn from presentations given by suppliers and from Bestway’s retail development team offering advice on everything from key consumer trends to the latest EPoS systems.
Customers go away from these seminars with the information and knowledge of how to move their businesses forward and can be assured of assistance from Bestway’s retail development team to help put this knowledge into practice. These customers are then in the running for the Bestway Retail Development Awards.
They are judged on how they have improved their consumer offering and grown their businesses significantly through progressive, targeted retailing. The awards have a prize fund of £43,000 cash.
Our highly successful symbol group provides retailer customers with a range of value-added services. It provides a fresh and focused image, strong consumer promotions, full management support, professional store planning and shop fitting.
Xtra Local is a major initiative which was launched by Batleys in October 2005. It is a retailer scheme which offers customers exclusive member deals running over a three weekly promotional period. The promotions are across key branded products covering licenced and general grocery, soft drinks and confectionery. Promotional activity is backed by many key suppliers including Cadbury Trebor Bassett, Nestlé, Walkers, Müller, Heineken UK, Molson Coors plus many top suppliers within the industry.
With this in mind retailers can be assured that all future activity will focus on delivering great value to consumers and strong promotional cash margins for the Independent Retailer. The customer benefits from a five week buying in period across these deeper cut exclusive member deals. The products are offered on a sale or return basis and the customer needs to buy into all the deals advertised on the leaflet to participate. Customers receive FREE POS kits including personalised promotion leaflets to distribute to their customers, order form featuring promoted products, A3 window bills and full colour shelf edge labels. Members are given help and support from their local depot and participating suppliers.
The scheme was trialled in five depots and having been proved a success was rolled out to all 18 Batleys depots in February 2006.

The mechanics behind the export business are as follows: Our customers either telephone or email orders through to the depot. The depot staff will then pick the order and transfer onto pallets and into containers if necessary. All you need to do is arrange for transport of the goods and send payment before goods are shipped which can be by electronic transfer if required. A full detailed invoice is supplied.
